THE EAST-WEST OVAL DIAMOND

Traditionally, oval diamonds are set vertically along the finger. For Nicole, we turned the diamond on its side.

The east-west setting places the oval horizontally across the finger, giving the classic oval diamond an entirely different feel. Modern and unexpected, it creates a beautiful sense of width across the hand and complements the proportions of the domed band.

We particularly love how an east-west setting transforms a familiar diamond shape into something more individual without feeling overly trend-driven.

It still has everything we love about an oval - its elongated shape, soft curves and beautiful brilliance - just worn a little differently.

THE MODERN DOMED BAND

The band is one of the defining elements of the Nicole.

Rather than using a fine, traditional engagement ring band, we designed Nicole around a bold, sculptural dome.

The gold gently curves around the finger, creating a smooth silhouette that feels substantial while remaining refined. The proportions of the band are carefully considered around the dimensions of each centre diamond, allowing the stone and gold to feel like one cohesive design.

There's something we love about pairing a beautiful diamond with more generous proportions of solid gold. It gives Nicole the presence of a statement ring while retaining the simplicity of a solitaire.

WHY A BEZEL SETTING?

Instead of traditional claws, the oval diamond is surrounded by a fine border of precious metal.

A bezel setting follows the outline of the diamond, creating a smooth transition between the stone and the domed band.

Visually, it gives Nicole its clean, contemporary character. It frames the oval beautifully while allowing the shape of the diamond to remain the focus.

It's also a practical choice for an engagement ring designed to be worn every day. With no raised claws around the edge of the diamond, the setting has a beautifully smooth, low-profile feel and provides additional protection around the perimeter of the stone.

The result is a diamond that feels embedded into the architecture of the ring rather than simply sitting on top of it.

Every Nicole ring is individually considered around its centre stone.

Oval diamonds can vary significantly in their proportions. Some are long and slender, while others are softer and wider. Even two diamonds with the same carat weight can look completely different once they're on the hand.

Through our Bespoke Concierge, we source a selection of diamonds based on your preferences and budget, looking beyond the certificate to consider the dimensions, proportions and overall beauty of each stone.

Once your diamond is chosen, the ring is designed around it so the bezel, dome and diamond work together in proportion.

Nicole can also be personalised through your choice of natural or lab-grown diamond, carat weight and precious metal, creating your own interpretation of the original design.
