BESPOKE JEWELLERY
Jess's Ring
Jess and her partner reached out to me to create a handmade ring for their anniversary.
Their design brief called for a piece that was modern and feminine, with a hint of boldness and an edge. They wanted to draw inspiration from the classic signet ring.
Jess was particularly fond of a raised centerpiece and chose a crisp light blue topaz for the design. We decided to surround the center stone with a 'halo' of diamonds, but instead of a traditional pave setting, we opted for a modern flush setting.
Initially, we designed the ring with an oval-shaped center stone and eight lab-grown diamonds. However, we later decided to switch to a round-cut center stone and added more, smaller diamonds to create the sparkling halo.
I hand-carved the mold from wax and finished it with an organic, melted texture. Throughout the process, I kept in close contact with Jess and her partner, sending updates and making adjustments as needed.
The final piece was cast in solid gold and polished in my studio. A local diamond setter expertly finished the bezel-set light blue topaz and flush-set diamonds, resulting in a stunning showstopper of a ring.
